About Me

I love my work...all the emotions, anticipation, late nights, bad coffee, and beautiful births. I love supporting families as they grow and fall in love with their new babies.  I attend births anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area.  Most of my clients are birthing at hospitals, but I would also be delighted to attend you at your home or birth center.

People often ask me how I got into this kind of work, and I have to say that as cheesy as it sounds, I felt that I had to.  I just realized one evening that it was a calling, and I had better answer!  I wrapped up my bachelor's degree (Psychology, with and emphasis on child development and language acquisition) and started figuring out how to become the midwife I knew I wanted to be.

Natural birth is my passion, but I am also very open-minded about using the best that technology and Western medicine have to offer when needed.  I know that every woman has the right to a peaceful and gentle birth, whether it takes place in a hospital, birth center, or her home.  I feel that each woman has a right to choose pain medications and interventions of her choice, being fully informed of the pros and cons of each procedure.  I believe that a healthy baby belongs in the arms of family, not in a nursery bassinet.

I am certified by Doulas of North America as a birth doula, and studying to become a Certified Professional Midwife. In addition to my private practice, I volunteer with the Pasadena Public Health Department as a doula for low-income and single mothers, and with Operation Special Delivery.
